Former DLSAANC Director Jose Mari Villanueva Vargas passed on last Saturday Oct. 26 at his residence in Pittsburg, CA at the age of 64. He leaves behind his wife Vicky Lim-Vargas, children Carla Vargas, Clint Vargas, Julia Vargas, Patricia Lacson, Luigi Lacson and grandchildren Andres and Xavier Lacson. (more…)

Please support the DLSAANC Annual Picnic which will be held in St Mary’s on July 14th, Sunday, from 9 am to 4 pm (see attached flyer). We plan to use the picnic as an occasion to join the Philippine Lasallian community in having a chapter “Lasallian Star” photo. Many of you are familiar that the various Philippine Lasallian campuses along with the international alumni chapters have organized events just for the singular purpose to doing this photo shoot, especially during the recent centennial celebration. It appears that our chapter is one of the few which hasn’t done so, yet. So bring your family and friends and be part of “Lasallian Star” at the picnic. See you there!

The next DLS Greens Tournament is scheduled as follows: Where: Poppy Ridge Golf Course When: Saturday, May 11 (10am start)

Fee: $84 (green fee and cart) FORMAT: 2-Man Best Ball.

You may select your partner in advance or you can remain in a pool from which pairings will be drawn. Once you declare your team, it cannot be changed, unless one partner drops out of the tournament, in which case the remaining partner will go into the pool. Guys, we are out to have fun, so feelings of rejection, envy, jealousy, etc. during the selection process are not allowed 🙂

PLEASE NOTE: There will be a maximum 8- stroke differential between partners. Example: If a 10 handicapper pairs with a 22-handicapper, the 22-handicaper will have to play to an 18 handicap. More details to follow.

Format: net stroke play

To make things more interesting and fun this year, we will play to different formats as the season goes along. We are also going to have a champions bracket in our last tournament to determine the golfer of the year.

It is with great sadness that I learned of the passing of Ms. Josefina Alburo, once the oldest living teacher of La Salle. She was my grade 1 teacher in 1960. She was with La Salle for more than 50 years. She has seen so many of her students reach great heights in her life. Dear Friends and fellow Alumni,

Another recent storm, typhoon “Pablo” struck several provinces in the Visayas and Mindanao a couple of weeks ago and according to local news (NDRRMC-Nat’l Disaster Risk Reduction and management Council), 647 confirmed dead and 780 still missing as of Monday. To add insult to injury, our Gov’t is ill equipped to assist the thousands more that were hard hit. (more…)
