By 7AM, the registration table was already busy signing golfers in to participate in the annual De La Salle Charity Golf Tournament (previously Fil-Am Golf Tournament), held at the prestigious Monarch Bay Golf CC, in San Leandro, California.
The mood was joyful, sunny and bright, and golfers are excited to once again play with fellow La Sallians and friends from all over the Bay Area. A yearly tradition that supports Philippine and local Bay Area charities such as:
• Books for the Barrios
• Bro. Rabisa, Night School
• Bahay Pag Asa, Dasmarinas, Cavite
• Bro. Donato, in memory of
• Saint Benilde School for the Deaf
• James Hilario Integrated School, Bagac, Bataan
Over 40 golfers participated, but only a handful ended up with the coveted cup.
• Best Low Net Champion: Rey Santos
• 2nd place Low Net winner: Rey Abero
• 3rd place Low Net winner: Frank Roxas
• Best Low Gross winner: Nelson Galicia
• 2nd place Low Gross winner: Che Flores
• 3rd place Low Gross winner: Arnold Mercado
• 1st place – Callaway division winner: Betbet Espiritu
Awarding ceremonies were held just a stone’s throw away from the golf course at Everybody’s Café, where all participants were treated to a traditional filipino buffet lunch. A day of golf, followed by delicious food, and never-ending laughter and camaraderie. This is how it should be. Charity golf tournament, La Sallian style!
In addition to the golf trophies, a number of prizes were raffled out to the group.
