August 16, 2014 — Enrique Olives announced his return to DLS Greens competition with an emphatic 5-stroke victory over runner-up Manny Noguera at the challenging Johnny Miller-designed Bridges Golf Club in San Ramon.
This month’s tournament attracted only 11 participants so only three winners were awarded prizes. The die-hard golfers showed up and teed off the relatively short 5,625 yard white tees which nevertheless carried a respectable 131 slope rating. True enough, the majority of the golfers still were hazed by the tough course which demanded accurate drives to many narrow right-to-left and hillside fairways. Enrique was by far the exception with an impressive gross score of 3-over par 75 to net 64 given his 9.1 index. Manny came in second with his old-time favorite number, 69, while Rico Medina rounded up the winners circle with a 74. Rico actually broke a three-way tie at 74 with Clem Yu and Mandy Rosales by scoring the lowest net score at the back nine.
